Growing up on a steady diet of sci-fi shows, where no one ever flicked a light switch, I always assumed lighting that turns on when you walk into a room was inevitable. But now that it’s here, I’m not sure it’s the futuristic marvel we need. I’ve been testing a feature called SpaceSense from smart-lighting company Wiz—it uses Wi-Fi sensing technology to turn lights on when someone is in a room, and off when it’s empty.
